Housing – Construction
What are the problems of our trading society regarding housing and construction?
At present, many issues in this sector remain unresolved.
The current system is counterproductive for access to housing. For example, in the European Union, there are 10 times more empty homes than homeless people.
In order to have the most competitive prices, manufacturers propose low-end materials, with little durability and little insulation.
Energy insulation solutions exist but their implementation is often hampered by the financial limitations of households.
What are the benefits of a sharing society on housing and construction?
A sharing society would allow the industry to work together to find the best alternatives in terms of materials and insulation.
It would make it possible to fill empty housing, to rehabilitate offices linked to finance (banks, insurance companies, etc.) into housing.
It would also allowfor real energy saving and eco-sustainable building solutions.

Objectives of my Habitat / Construction meeting?
- Review the challenges of the sectorto move towards ecological alternatives.
- To raise the awareness of actors in this field (citizens’ movements, associations and inhabitants) of the advantages of a sharing society in terms of housing and construction.
- To contribute to the implementation of concrete projects in favour of a world of sharing.
Let us keep in mind that it is a priority to gather massively in order to make a transition.
The solution to the excesses of the market system and to most of the global challenges lies in the transition to a post-monetary world.
Waiting to be autonomous “outside the system” to get rid of money will certainly prevent us from doing so one day:a tiny part of the population has the capacity to achieve autonomy (lack of time, money, energy, land, health, tools, knowledge). => Humanity is autonomous, in everything, today!
Example of actions to be taken in my assembly:
- Raise awareness of the sector’s stakeholders on the challenges of a sharing society and the benefits of the Great Project.
Participate in or organise fairs, meetings and debates on housing and construction to bring people together.
Construction of rent-free eco-villages.
Organise low-tech construction workshops.
- Organise participatory renovation and insulation projects.
